Asthma: Linked to Higher Risk of Developing Multiple Cancers

Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by inflammation of the airways, resulting in symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, and difficulty breathing. Asthma affects approximately 300 million people worldwide, and its prevalence has been increasing over the past few decades. While asthma is known to increase the risk of respiratory complications such as pneumonia and bronchitis, recent studies have suggested that asthma may also be associated with an increased risk of developing certain types of cancer. Studies have shown that individuals with asthma have a higher risk of developing several types of cancer, including lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma.
